HOW TO GET TO DHIFFUSHI FROM MALÉ? ALL TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS

Although Dhiffushi is in the same atoll as Malé (Kaafu Atoll), it is separated from the capital of Maldives about 35 km, which will have to be traveled by boat to enjoy one of the most interesting local islands in the country. If your idea is to come to spend a few days of your vacation, here we tell you all the options of how to get to Dhiffushi from Male.

The 3 ways to arrive to Dhiffusi from Male are: by local ferry, by shared speedboat or by private boat. We will see in detail each one of them:

The ferry that interests us is number 308, which makes the route Male - Dhiffushi, stopping at other intermediate local islands, such as Hinmafushi, Huraa and Thulusdhoo. It leaves every day, except Monday and Friday, and its only departure time from Male is at 2:30 p.m., arriving at Dhiffushi around 5:40 p.m. The return is on the same days and leaves at 06:30 from Dhiffushi, to reach Malé at 09:40. So the journey time is just over Three hours.

It leaves from the ferry terminal Villingili, west of the island and the price is 22 MVR (approx € 1.2). It is the same price if you get off on any of the previous islands (we understand that it is a company subsidized by the government, because they have to lose a lot of money with these routes). We recommend you arrive at this terminal in Malé with a little advance and buy the ticket at the box office. To return you pay directly on the boat.

Keep in mind that if you want to take it the same day you arrive at the airport, you will have to pay for transportation to the ferry terminal (the taxi is about 8-10 $).

We stayed 3 days in Huraa before going to Dhiffushi, and this was our option to go from Huraa to Dhiffushi and back to Male. If you do not mind taking a little longer to make the tour and schedules are going well, it is the ideal alternative to save money if you travel with low cost budget.

• Every day except Friday: 11:30 (11:40 from the airport), 16:30 (16:40 from the airport) and 22:30 (22:40 from the airport).
• Friday: 08:30 (08:40 from the airport) and 22:30 (22:40 from the airport).

→ From Dhiffushi to Male

• Every day except Friday: 07:30, 13:30 and 17:45.
• Friday: 07:00 and 17:45.

In Malé they leave from Jetty 7 of the port that is to the north, in front of the airport. The good thing is that they also stop at the airport jetty.

Is the most recommended option, because the price difference is not very high and there are different schedules that can fit better with your planning. In addition, the journey takes much less time than with the local ferry. We went with Sea Shine.

If you travel in a group or prefer not to depend on schedules, you can always book a private boat that leaves at the time that suits you best from the city of Male or from the airport. The price varies depending on where you hire it, although it can be around $ 250 for the entire ship. We advise you to talk to the accommodation where you stay in Dhiffushi.
