Eating cheap in Riga is quite easy. The cuisine of Latvia, like that of the other Baltic Countries, is greatly influenced by Russian, German and Scandinavian cuisine. If you only have one day of time in Riga, this is the restaurant we recommend the most. The menu is well priced, quality food, half-liter beer only costs € 2.50 and is frequented by both locals and tourists. But we are going to tell you a little trick to eat well (and even cheaper): tourists do not give it to us ... but there is a today's menu (business lunch, from Monday to Friday) which only costs € 4.60 and includes main course plus soup or salad or dessert and drink. We asked for it and without problems they brought it to us, yes, it is not in English so you will have to pull a translator. The place is a maze of corridors in the basement of a building, but it is curious.

2. XLPelmeni

It is not a secret that we love dumplings in all its forms: ravioli, tortellini, momos and all that resembles it. So we cannot not recommend this good and cheap site, where to try a few types of pelmeni, the typical russian dumplings. Try cheese, smoked meat and lamb. The ration of 200gr costs € 2.40 and if you catch 3-4 to share, the better.

It is a very famous restaurant, mostly because of its peculiarity: it is set in the Middle Ages! It is not very cheap if you want to eat a main course, but if you catch something to share, a soup and drink, it is not especially expensive. Although we want to highlight that more for the quality of the restaurant, we recommend the gastronomic experience.

We loved this place, specialized in indian and ethnic food. It has a very interesting daily letter and that you can see on its website. It has several veg options so everyone will like it. Something very cool is that you can order whole or half portions (and so try different dishes). There are always soups, salads and main dishes.

If you are tired of typical food and want to start the day with a greasy (and delicious) Bagel, this little place is perfect for you. Our favorite is the Mexican bagel It has bacon, egg, cream cheese and guacamole picantito. It costs € 5.20.

A friend recommended us to eat in this restaurant chain in Riga and it was a great success: it is a self service restaurant And it's very pretty and cheap. The food is simple, in plan buffet, but very good and you can try typical dishes such as soups, stews and even fish dishes. Good solution to try several things and not mess too much. In addition, at noon they have a menu for only € 3.90. There are several places around the city, the most central is the Lido Alus sēta (the menu in this is somewhat more expensive).

You have to visit yes or yes the Central Market: it is one of the best things to see in Riga, but it is also that in one of its peculiar hangars there are a few places to eat well and cheaply! We got a hungry and a pizza (both very good, especially pizza!). Prices: 4-7 € approx.
